That one brew lit the fuse. I dove deep into the world of coffee, origins, roasting, brewing methods, the lot. What started as curiosity turned into obsession.

Years later, back home on the South Coast, I found myself drawn to the creative heartbeat of Hastings. Independent shops, artists, makers, all doing things their own way.

It was here, in this town built on character and coastline, that the idea for Smuggler’s Drop was born.

Inspired by the spirit of the smugglers who once ran goods through these shores, I felt like this historic town was crying out for locally roasted coffee that came with a story. One with grit, swagger, and proper flavour. A bit rogue. A bit rebellious. But always the real deal.

Just like Hastings itself.
